Only about 2% of divorce cases in Michigan end up going to trial, so at some point, you will likely settle your case. So why not skip the litigation and settle your case before even filing for divorce.
A Kitchen Table Divorce is an Amicable Divorce
Let's face it, families settle issues sitting around the kitchen table. So we take that concept and help you put together a formal agreement based on the needs of your family that only you know best.
If the two of you are getting along decently well, can have honest and full disclosure and just need help getting it done right, this might be your best option. This isn't for everyone, for example, if there is domestic violence or any other serious issue, this is not for you.
We offer three levels of amicable divorce services:
YOUR KITCHEN TABLE
This is for someone who is comfortable with going to court - likely just one time.
You work together to come to a full agreement on all issues that can be converted to formal court documents that can be submitted to the court for entry.
We have tools to help you get there if you aren't quite sure what you are doing.
MY KITCHEN TABLE - as Mediator
This is for someone who has a few issues they just can't agree on or they don't know where to start.
We will start with a group meeting to understand all of the issues and the process.
We will hold mediation sessions as necessary until you come to a full and final agreement.
Then we formalize the agreement into formal court documents that can be submitted to the court.
MY KITCHEN TABLE - Representing One Party
This is for someone who really wants an lawyer with them every step of the way.
We represent one party, but keep the collaborative approach. If the other party wishes to be represented, a referral will be made to another collaborative attorney who shares this mindset.
We may engage a third party mediator or other professionals to facilitate settlement.
Then we formalize the agreement into formal court documents that can be submitted to the court.
